Roger's Contribution

Thank you Roger for sending us this information on portable applications. For those who are new to portable apps, they are programs that you could run from your USB drive without actually haveing to install them on a computer. The end result is that you could take the progams with on your flash drive as you go along.

Thank you Roger.

posted Mar 2, 2010 12:05 PM by Nanda Ganesan

Dear Students,

Roger sent this interesting cloud computing tool known as Gladinet. I am impressed by its first look. I will be asking Roger to demonstrate it in the class. Thank you Roger for your contribution.

Hey Prof. Ganesan

I just wanted to share an application with you called Gladinet. I'm not sure if you know about this program or not, but because of the importance of cloud computing you emphasize in class, I thought this applications would be of relevance. I really like this applications and I thought it was a very practical solution to even further increase the usability and the ease of cloud computing.

MORE INFORMATION

Gladinet basically allows you to access files synched to Google Docs or Microsoft SkyDrive locally from your computer without the Hassle of logging in. Gladinet Does this by creating a virtual drive onto your computer. Inside the drive, it allows you to mount many different online storage and cloud computing providers into it. So you can use it just as it were a drive or folder on your computer, where you can access content that is synchronized with the cloud. It even allows you to do cloud computing such as google apps from within Gladinet similar to Google Gears, but requires that you purchase the professional edition.

Gladinet is free to download for the free version, and is only $20 for the professional edition for acedemic users. So I highly recommend you check out this program

If you'd like more Information about the application, just click on the following links or copy and paste the links to your web browser
